June 26 - One of the first reviews of the $999 high-def disc player from Audio Video Revolution says you can't ignore the fact that this is basically a hefty, blue computer. The main beef is that the release of the Samsung player does not mean the end of your search for the holy grail of HDTV, 1080p. Also, the reviewer offers his take on which format is going to come out on top.
June 26 - Think Motorola's cornered the market on beautiful phones? So does LG, and it wants a piece of the action - hence, the LV2300. The prototype phone was revealed at last week's Solutions and Contest Exhibitions of Korea (SEK 2006), reports Gizmodo.
June 22 - Engadget reports the Toshiba will drop an HD-DVD recorder in Japan in mid-July, and a U.S. launch may follow. You'll need some friends to help you carry the 33-pound monster that also packs a recordable 1TB disc that would hold 92 hours of high-def TV. You might also get some money from those friends, as the recorder will likely list for $3500.

June 22 - PCMag.com says the system is a "significantly higher-end product" than the Apple iPod Hi-Fi. The Model L consists of two tweeters, two woofers, and a digital amplifier capable of producing 50W on each of its two channels. The site offers a full review.
June 21 - Verizon will offer the Samsung SGH-A990, which will feature a swivel QVGA display ready for EV-DO, Bluetooth, and a 3.2 megapixel camera, reports Engadget. No word yet on when the phone will be available, but users will await word of photo quality before putting down their money.
Samsung has also leaked word of what they're calling "the world's slimmest" phones They're being called the Ultra Edition 6.9, 9.9, and 12.9 (with the numbers referring to their width in millimeters), and these cameras are loaded. The base UE offers a 1.9-inch display, Bluetooth, 80MB memory, 2 megapixel camera and an MPEG4 recorder.

June 20 - Denon reports that its new DVD-3930 supports all manner of DVD formats as well as upconverts DVDs to 1080p. Engadget reports that the player will sell for about $1900 starting next month.
June 20 - HDBeat offers a round-up of online reviews of the Samsung BD-P1000 from CNET, The Man Room, and others. Also, lots of pics of the Samsung box for those eagle eyes scouting for it on shelves. The players were shipped on June 16 for a June 25 release, but sloppy shop boys might have snuck a few out.
